Doesn’t seem to work I have had this app for approx 1 week now and I purchased the subscription also. Despite the copious amounts or profiles I have swiped to like, I have had no matches or communication with anyone. I have downloaded other apps and seem to get plenty of matches and responses all within 48hrs.

The second app I got was completely free to use, including messaging each other. Both times I reported an issue to bumble about the matching and messaging section, they tell me there was a bug and that it’s fixed and I should download the new version, however, I was always up to date and there was no newer version to update.

With the one time I had a match on my profile come up, I couldn’t open it and then when I closed and re-opened the app they disappeared. For the $120, constant “bugs”, and no matches, this app isn’t worth a cent. Sorry but I just havnt had any indication at all that it works. I have requested a refund to which got ignored in their response. I think I will stay with my other app as it’s free, has no bugs, and have been getting matches left right and center.

Based on today (12 Jan 2021), bumble’s gimmick / imagery like Hollywood in its many manifestations is selling the idea that the only mixed race dichotomy worth anyone’s time is white and black (usually a sophisticated black man and a white woman, sophistication being the man’s signifier which speaks of class interests etc, interesting how you never see a drab black man, and whiteness in itself, all that is needed some would say, being hers).

This is problematic and fairly sinister as these supposed prominent successes (an advertiser’s wet dream really as they are able to sell their product with the implicit Tagline being that their product has managed to quell society’s great ill — racism!) mask structural everyday real inequalities as it bounds us to very limited social parameters ….Apart from that Bumble’s alright I guess!

If you want to be connected with a friend of a friend and finding a great lasting relationship, I’d say this is a pretty good choice.

If you, on the other hand, are sick of being rotated through the same group of people, I mean you could date a friend of a friend yourself easy enough, this might not be a great app for you.

Pros:

Great if you want to be connected with your friend’s brother and you are just a little shy to say hi.
Less people on the app just looking for a hookup.
Less creepers than other apps which is always a win.
If you aren’t a fan of the swipe right feature on other apps.
They take time to better understand you through a series of questions when you first sign up.
Only gives you a limited number of likes, in claims that people use them more wisely and don’t just like everyone.

Unlike tinder and bumble, Hinge gives you the opportunity to actually bring forth more of your personality as he can comment on a persons profile. The more information on your profile or another persons profile increases the chances of you liking something other than just their looks. I

found that this has led to much more engaging and relatable matches with others, not only that but leading those comments on their profile has led to easier conversations as it is a total ice breaker. The conversation starts with the comment that you made after you match and you can build off of what you sent. I found this has led to more genuine conversations and has been a overall amazing experience.

I’ve had tinder and bumble for several years now, and I found the whole experience to be very difficult with few matches and disinterested people; even when I use the paid subscriptions little changed. After a few days of downloading this app I saw a completely different results for the reasons I mentioned above. There’s so many features that allow a person to be able to follow up on people who like them without the use of a paid subscription. I’ve been able to match with several people and I am very interested to meet one of them. Overall I’ve been absolutely thankful for discovering this app. Thank you Hinge, and best of luck to the rest of you.

This is, by far, the class of all the available dating apps. That doesn’t mean it’s going to provide a fairy tail opportunity, or even a fun one, but the way profiles are designed and integrated into the brief response sections makes this a much better option than Tinder, and even Bumble. As others have mentioned in their reviews, squelching the ability to like photos without leaving a substantive comment should be the default.

That’s simply too much like Tinder/Facebook and doesn’t really provide anything meaningful for the app. It definitely promotes the type of “drive-by” behavior that’s a scourge on Tinder. Leaving a comment requires forethought about what to say, what kind of tone you want to convey, and engaging with another user’s profile.

You’re also much more likely to respond to folks who leave commentary, even if you don’t plan on going on a date, and that’s a very healthy approach compared to other apps. As always, your mileage may vary. If you live in a small place you’re likely going to need to increase the radius, or maybe even take a step toward looking to move somewhere bigger in the future. There is still ghosting, likely related to the feature I mentioned above, but that’s just part of the process. For me, I was fortunate enough to find someone after a few months on Hinge that had me deleting the whole panoply of apps.

I downloaded Tinder because a few friends told me to. I was nervous because I figured it wasn’t something for me. I’ve always been the relationship type of person so I figured an app known for other things was definitely not where I’d find love. Unlike some of these bad reviews I didn’t buy Tinder gold or anything like that, I actually thought the regular app was quite fun. I honestly got addicted to it and would spend a lot of time swiping. I swiped right on this adorable, tall, guitar playing guy and we immediately matched (yay).

He texted me first and we hit it off straight away. Turns out him and I went to the same college and everything. We had SOOO much in common. After getting my phone number and facetiming for a couple days, he picked me up and we went on our first date, which would be one of many many wonderful dates. Little did I know downloading Tinder would lead to meeting the love of my life. Just thought I should share my “Tinderella” story on here to let everybody know that while Tinder is super fun, it can also lead to something more than just somebody to text or talk to. 🙂

Just recently got out of a relationship and decided to dive back into the dating app world, and all I have to say is wow. Tinder has really slipped. What used to be a brilliantly simple and effective dating app has turned into a frustrating, convoluted, pay-walled mess. For Tinder to be even remotely useful, you have to pay for it. And once you do, you’re allowed features that are literally free on other apps.

Wanna see who likes you? You’re going to have to pay more a month than you do on a Netflix subscription for that. Btw, Hinge does that for free. Wanna leave a comment on someone’s picture? Surely you can do that with the Gold membership, right? Nope. Gotta shell out even more money for ~platinum~. Guess who also does it for free? You got it. Hinge (and I think OKC too). And even after emptying your wallet on one of their higher subscription tiers, you still only get one boost a week, and you’re still hounded with pop ups every 10 minutes to try out their creepiest feature – the super like.

All of this on top of the inherent dating app negatives (ghosting, catfishing, creeps, excessive filters, etc) and you’re in for a miserable ride. Save yourself the stress and money and try literally any app other than Tinder. Or just go to a bar. You’ll spend about the same amount of money but at the very least you’ll get a good buzz.
