Mykonos Honeymoon Hotels: 6 Best Hotels in Mykonos for Couples

What is the best place to stay in Mykonos for a honeymoon?

There are seriously so many great Mykonos honeymoon hotels because believe it or not, Mykonos is not just a cool place to go for a party but it is also a great place to vacation as a couple.

In our opinion, the best place to stay in Mykonos for couples is without doubt in Mykonos Town – it just has such a cool vibe. While other islands in Greece have multiple big towns, Mykonos has just one major city on the island which is why we would recommend you stay there.

You can still make trips to the beach and relax (in fact it is SUPER easy to rent a car or quad in Mykonos and everything is really close) but if you want a honeymoon beyond just relaxation, we would recommend Mykonos town for its great shopping, restaurants, coffee shops and ice creameries (yes, great ice cream in Mykonos).

We will also recommend a few hotels just outside of town, located directly on Mykonos best beaches. The benefit of staying at the beach and not in Mykonos town is that you have direct access to the beach without driving and you can access the awesome Mykonos beach clubs all day.

6 Romantic Hotels for Honeymoons in Mykonos

1. Belvedere Hotel (Mykonos Town)

One of the best hotels for a romantic honeymoon in Greece is the stunning Belvedere Suites. Located right in Mykonos Town, it is the perfect place to stay for couples wanting R&R as well as action from Mykonos town.

Included in the hotel is a great pool club, an organic spa and a beautiful infinity pool – it is seriously a stunning hotel. This hotel offers the best of both worlds – great facilities like their incredible Greek fine dining restaurant Matsuhisa Mykonos and Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant while being right in the centre of town, in walking distance of all that Mykonos has to offer including the iconic windmills.

2. Semeli Hotel (Mykonos Town)

If you choose to go to Mykonos for a honeymoon, you need to splurge on a decent hotel to really enjoy yourself and Semeli Hotel is a great choice for doing just that.

You know what though, the great thing about the greek islands is though, compared to some parts of the world, we really didn’t find luxury hotels to be THAT expensive. I mean sure, they are dear but compared to say Bora Bora, you will find a good deal on a luxury hotel here.

Semeli Hotel is located in the heart of Mykonos Town right near Little Venice one of Mykonos highlights but also has great facilities for enjoying the summer heat such as 2 amazing pools (one of which is heated), great Thioni and Krama onsite restaurants with some of the highest ratings in the area, a gym and wellness centre. If you feel like going to the beach, it is also only 500 m from Megali Ammos beach.

It is definitely one of the best places to stay in Mykonos for a honeymoon.

3. Cavo Tagoo (Mykonos Town)

If you want a honeymoon hotel that says !WOW! Cavo Tagoo is the only choice. Honeymoons are all about going to hotels with the wow factor and something a bit extra special and this hotel has all that and more.

I mean, I don’t know about you but if I am going to fork out the big bucks on a romantic hotel, it has to have something a bit special about it.

This hotel is so cool it has not only an an infinity pool with a 40 m aquarium bar but most rooms enjoy seriously impressive sea views. It is a short walk to access the main town of Mykonos but if you don’t feel up to the “hike” the hotel also offers a free shuttle for guests. Oh, and if you feel like some more pampering, there is also a great onsite spa.

4. Mykonos Blu (Psarou Beach)

So if you decide you want to stay outside of the craziness of Mykonos Town, Psarou Beach is a nice option and of course it has the beautiful Mykonos Blu located there so really it is a no brainer!

If you want a hotel with a view in Mykonos, this is a seriously good option. This absolute gem of a hotel is perched high on a hill with a stunning view of Psarou Beach.

Also included at the hotel is a not 1 but 2-level infinity pool, a state-of-the-art fitness room, sauna and beauty salon. If you feel like going out for a bite to eat at night but not venturing as far as Mykonos Town (10 minutes drive away) there are also great restaurants located a short walking distance away.

5. Kivotos Mykonos (Ornos Beach)

Another lovely beach hotel in Mykonos which is consistently highly rated (9/10 on booking.com) is Kivotos Mykonos located on one of Mykonos most popular beaches, Ornos Beach.

This hotel is stunning with an infinity pool overlooking the private pebbly beach. If you are not satisfied with this pool (yet it would be pretty hard not to be) the hotel actually has a second pool, which is nice when it gets really busy. You can even book a suite with a private pool here if you are a serious pool person.

Don’t feel like venturing out to dinner? No problem, the hotel offers 2 really well rated restaurants and there is an extra special option you can book to have a private candle-lit dinner in the overwater cabana – which is nice if you want to book a special surprise for your partner, it would also be a great spot for a romantic proposal.

The hotel is also in a nice location, being just a 5-minute walk to Ornos Beach which not only has stunning water but great restaurants and beach clubs.

6. Branco Mykonos (Platis Gialos Beach)

If you are into small luxury hotels with great facilities you will really love Branco Mykonos located on Platis Gialos Beach.

Also, if you want a hotel with beach club facilities for your honeymoon, this is a lovely choice as this boutique hotel in Mykonos has seriously the best and most luxurious sun loungers the island has to offer! It also has a seriously good modern Greek restaurant which we would recommend giving a go.

The rooms at the hotel are equally pretty special with all different features depending on what is most important to you – some offer a sea view while others have their own private jacuzzi (some extra special rooms have both ;))

The hotel has easy access to the bus to reach Mykonos Town for dinner but there are also restaurants nearby at Platis Gialos Beach to enjoy.

Bonus: Secret Budget Romantic Hotel in Mykonos Town

We have stayed in Mykonos on a romantic getaway which wasn’t a honeymoon and stayed in a great and affordable apartment in Mykonos which was totally renovated and right in the heart of Mykonos town.

The apartment did not have views or a pool (which is ideal for a honeymoon as it makes it extra special) but it was very comfortable so if you don’t care about those things, it could be a good choice – the location was unreal. Also, the host was so so lovely and helped us book quad hire for our time in Mykonos.

The apartment was so good, we really aren’t keen on sharing as then it will be totally booked but as you our readers are so important to us of course we have to share our good finds!

Note as I said, it probably isn’t the best place for a honeymoon in Mykonos unless you are doing it on a budget!

Things to note about a Honeymoon in Mykonos

It honestly surprised us how great Mykonos was for couples. An I mean even couples who are a bit over or too old for the constant party scene. Mykonos Town is so cool and can keep you occupied for days not to mention the beaches.

FAQ about honeymooning in Mykonos

How many days should we stay in Mykonos? You could stay in Mykonos for a week and not get bored but we would recommend at least 3 nights or 2 full days in Mykonos to get a good feel for the island.

Of course, cruise ships also visit Mykonos so some people literally visit for 1 day only but we think this would be a shame as you would have little time to really soak up the energy and vibe of the place.

What is the best time of year to honeymoon in Mykonos? One thing to keep in mind is the Greek Islands shut down totally from November to around March each year so unless you want to visit an island with nothing open, this would not be a good time to visit. A honeymoon in the Greek Islands in Winter is not a great idea.

The island is busiest in July and August. We personally think the shoulder months of May and September are the nicest time of year to travel as Mykonos is less crowded with people. We visited Mykonos in early October and had a really nice time. Prices are also cheaper at this time of year.

How much should I budget for a Mykonos Honeymoon Hotels? It depends if you travel in peak or off peak times. If you want a hotel with pools and facilities for your honeymoon, expect to budget at least $200 USD a night in off peak times and $300 USD a night in peak times.

What to do when traveling to Mykonos as a couple? Mykonos Town is one of the biggest attractions of Mykonos itself with its iconic greek laneways, windmills, Little Venice and the Mykonos Port.

Outside of Mykonos town you can explore some of Mykonos best beaches including Psarrou Beach, Ornos Beach & Korfos Beach and Kalafati.

Best area to stay in Mykonos for a honeymoon? We would recommend staying in Mykonos Town for a honeymoon as it has the best access to restaurants, shops and beaches. Other good options include the best beaches in Mykonos including Psarrou Beach, Ornos Beach & Korfos Beach and Kalafati.

Is Mykonos good for a honeymoon? We would give this question a hell yes! The greek islands are all so romantic but what we loved about Mykonos is that along with great beaches there are also so many things to do like checking out Little Venice, walking through the quaint alleyways and visiting the iconic windmills.
