Hong Kong Travel Blog: Where to Visit & What to Do for 1st Timers

Hong Kong is one of our favourite places to visit as a couple. When we arrived in HK were almost overwhelmed by all the cool things to do (and eat). So if you’re visiting Kong Kong for the first time – this one’s for you!

Where to start?!

Mong Kok

Mong Kok is an interesting area of Hong Kong and that is putting it politely.

If Times Square New York had a baby with China Town you would get Mong Kok.

The area may not be the most romantic place but it is certainly one of the most interesting places to explore in Hong Kong as a couple, especially if you like exploring new and interesting places together!

Mong Kok has the most amazing neon lights and also many interesting streets to explore.

If you visit the area be sure to make a visit to the Goldfish Market.

Along with many many goldfish for sale there are also super cute kittens and adorable penny turtles virtually everywhere you look along the street.

Do note: If you are an animal lover you may find Goldfish Market alarming. On the street you will see many bags of goldfish hanging over shop doors.

The Peak

The Peak is certainly one of the most romantic things to do in Hong Kong as a couple. Why?

The view from the top of the peak will certainly take your breath away!

The peak provides the absolute best aerial view of Hong Kong and great #couplegoals Instagram snaps! Even better – why not book a hotel near the Peak as it’s one of the best areas to stay in Hong Kong.

If you wish to visit The Peak in Hong Kong it is best to visit on a fine day for the best views.

If you visit on a cloudy day, there is a risk you will see virtually nothing in front of you.

The best part is The Peak is a totally free date in Hong Kong.

To reach the ‘best view in the city’, Bus 1 or Bus 15 from Central will take you there for only $10 HKD

Hong Kong is also the perfect place to start a trip to China. You can actually reach China in less than an hour from Hong Kong by catching the train to Shenzhen.

From there you can visit China by train to explore some of the most jaw-dropping scenery in Asia.

But this blog post is about Hong Kong, so before you explore China make sure to make the most of your trip to Hong Kong.
