What to do in Cameron Highlands: Cameron Highlands Resort Review

The Cameron Highlands is the land of tea & strawberries. When considering what to do in Cameron Highlands, the Cameron Highlands Resort should definitely be on your radar. It is a stunning hotel with many activities in and around the hotel for guests to enjoy.

What to do in Cameron Highlands?

There are so many fabulous things to do in the Cameron Highlands.

Many of our favourites are connected with an amazing resort in the area, the Cameron Highlands Resort.

What to do Cameron Highlands

Enjoy High Tea at The Jim Thompson Tea Room

The Cameron Highlands is famous for 3 things: Tea, Strawberries & Corn. Two out of these three specialties can be enjoyed at the Jim Thompson Tea Room at the Cameron Highlands Resort.

High Tea at the Cameron Highlands resort is a very regal and decadent experience. With waiters dressed in white suits, you feel like you have been transported back in time to the colonial days.

High Tea comes complete with the most delicious black gold Cameron Highlands tea, cucumber sandwiches, scones with freshly clotted cream & strawberries & an array of deserts.

Cameron Highlands Strawberries & Cream

The platter is absolutely delicious and highly recommended if you are in the area.

It is also very affordable too at only 110 MYR for a couple.

Steamboat Dinner Cameron Highlands

If you love a steamboat don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy a steamboat dinner at Gonbei’s Restaurant.

Gonbei’s Restaurant is an open dining concept at the Cameron Highlands Resort, a restaurant surrounded by lush greenery.

This hands on dining experience is absolutely perfect for dining as a couple or with family & friends.

Trying your hand at cooking your own dinner is an extremely enjoyable experience.

At Gonbei Restaurant you choose between meat or seafood with a selection of broths (we had the hearty meat & the Thai spicy coconut) – both absolutely delicious.

In addition to meat, you add fresh vegetables buffet style to suit your palate.

Signature Cameron Highlands Picnic

Probably the highlight of our stay in the Cameron Highlands was the signature picnic offered by the Cameron Highlands Resort.

If you love tea, you will feel like you have died and gone to heaven with all the rolling fields of tea!

The Resort organises the most gorgeous and romantic couples picnic on private land high in the tea fields with a panoramic view.

This is the perfect private experience for couples as the tea plantations get extremely busy.

The signature Cameron Highlands picnic comes complete with freshly squeezed orange juice, chicken, salmon & avaocado sandwiches, cheese & crackers, salad and of course the most delicious fresh strawberries and clotted cream.

Signature Picnic Cameron Highlands

The resort only offers one picnic per day (as to keep it a unique private experience) so be sure to book in advance if you are interested in the picnic!

After you have enjoyed the most delicious food in the stunning scenery, the butler (and pro photographer) Jan from the resort takes guests on a photography experience in the best & isolated spots of the Cameron Highlands – perfect for Instagram lovers!

A truly ‘not to be missed’ experience in the Cameron Highlands!

Lunch at the Jim Thompson Tea Room

If you are looking for a great place to enjoy lunch in the Cameron Highlands, look no further than the Jim Thompson Tea Room.

With a delicious and wide range of food, you will not be disappointed.

We sampled the lamb chops & fish and chips. Both were absolutely delicious. We were very impressed that the portion sizes were also extremely large.

Lunch was washed down with a mind-blowingly delicious strawberry milkshake. Trust me, they are good. You can thank me later.

Spa Village Cameron Highlands

It wouldn’t be a true luxury experience in the Cameron Highlands without a little pampering.

We sampled the Rose Garden spa experience & the Cameron Mint spa experience at the Cameron Highlands Resort.

The spa experience begins with a rejuvenating and luxurious bath with your choice of rose petals, mint or strawberries. Soaking in the Cameronian tea infused waters is a unique and memorable experience.

From there, you receive a full body scrub down which is ended with an amazing massage. You can also prolong your relaxing retreat by hanging around in luxurious daybeds and sipping refreshing chamomile tea.

The whole experience lasts 2-3 hours and is highly recommended.

Dinner in Cameron Highlands

If you are looking for a lavish & decadent dinner in the Cameron Highlands with your significant other, you cannot go past the Cameron Highlands Resort Dining Room.

Cameron Highlands Dining

One interesting and heart warming activity at the resort is the pre-dinner fire lighting ceremony.

Cameron Highlands

During the fire lighting ceremony, guests are treated to the Cameron Highlands resort signature mocktail.

With a dollop of freshly clotted cream & real strawberries, the signature mocktail is definitely a winner.

After the fire lightening experience, we were seated in the dining room.

For starters, we ordered the tomato mozzarella salad and the fresh tomato soup.

Dinner Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands Tomato Soup

Both dishes were to a very high standard and absolutely delicious.

The tomato soup even came complete with a puff pastry top (something we had never seen before & a welcomed addition).

The highlight of our evening dinner however was the ribs which were were very surprised to discover were wheeled & carved at a station near our table by none other than the chef himself!

The meat was so tender and came with an assortment of delicious roast vegetables.

Where to stay in Cameron Highlands? Cameron Highlands Resort

The Cameron highlands Resort is without doubt the perfect place to stay in the Cameron Highlands.

The resort is Colonial English style luxury. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous (and include all you can drink Highlands Tea!)

We stayed in the signature deluxe room and would highly recommend it.

Cameron Highlands Resort Room

The room came complete with a stunning 4 poster bed, a stunning lounge area and a desk where you can read or use your laptop.

Cameron Highlands Luxury Resort Room

The lounge area was so comfortable and we were pleased to find a delicious welcome basket of fruit upon our arrival.

During the evening turn down service, the staff brought us strawberries & chocolate – what a treat!

Perhaps our favourite part of the room however, was the crisp mountain air experienced on our stunning private balcony.

Cameron Highlands Resort

The bathroom was equally as decadent with a large walk in shower & marble countertops. The bathroom also included the most delicious smelling lavender moisturiser.

The room rate at the Cameron Highlands Resort includes breakfast.

For breakfast, there is a small but very high quality buffet. Staff bring freshly squeezed orange juice and a coffee of your choice to your table when you arrive.

Food & Beverage Cameron Highlands

In addition, you can select a breakfast dish made fresh to order on the a la carte menu.

These dishes includes a full English breakfast, waffles, pancakes, roti & some asian specialty dishes.

We would recommend the traditional full English breakfast. It was so delicious Mike ordered it every morning of our stay.

Cameron Highlands Breakfast

Overall we had a fabulous time in the Cameron Highlands & at the Cameron Highlands Resort.

Wow, seems like you guys had quite the opposite experience in Cameron Highlands from ours. ? We hiked the Jungle Trails in the rain, and hitchhiked a ride back to Tanah Rata from the BOH Tea Factory. In the back of a pick-up truck, once again in the rain. ? It was good fun though, thinking back!

Glad to hear you have awesome memories from Cameron Highlands too! I think having different types of experiences - good and bad, strenuous or luxurious - makes a trip memorable.
